Yes, you need a passport in order to travel to Costa Rica.

I recommend bringing some form of shoe that allows for a grip and protection for the toes. Water shoes can sometimes be very slippery, you are welcome to wear any form of sports shoe that can get wet. 

PS: If you are a monkey like me and never wear shoes, shoes are not required for waterfall and beach visits. 

Yes, please be sure to pack all-natural bug spray for your travels. 

No, you do not need to exchange your money for the Costa Rican currency. The US dollar and credit cards are accepted. Please note that large bills such as $100 bills are not often accepted so be sure to have smaller bills on hand ($20’s).

Note: Mastercard and AMEX are not accepted many places so when trying to decide which cards to bring, a VISA is your best option. 

Be sure to ask what are the recommended and MUST HAVE items on your 30 minute Trip Advising Call. 

While knowing how to swim would  be a plus for comfortability, knowing how to swim is not a requirement to partake in the trip tours and activities. Life jackets will be provided on tours.

*CAUTION: The beaches and rivers of Costa Rica have very strong currents, if you are not able to swim do not go into the water without a life jacket. 

You do not need to speak any Spanish to visit Costa Rica.
